![]() ![]() The first two are already released, the other two projects have been merged to master and will be in Krita 5.0. ![]() We also had Four Google Summer of Code: Sharaf Zaman with Mesh Gradients, Amyspark with the SeExpr-based scriptable fill layers, Saurabh Kumar with storyboarding and Ashwin Daikata with the MyPaint brush engine. We will have to finish this next year, so we can release Krita 5.0 and can start spending time on fun things like the text tool, machine learning based image scaling, dithered and HDR gradients and other fun and fancy features. The 2020 February sprint was intended to be a kick-off for a concerted attack on the resource system with four people working on until it was done, but then came March… And yes, we also mentioned that already last year. We decided to change too many things in one big refactoring and, frankly, it’s motivation-sapping especially in a year that’s already hard on everyone. And as a project, it turns out it’s simply too large. It is taking a lot of work to convert all the places where resources (like brushes, gradients, presets) are used to the new system. The resource rewrite project still isn’t done, though pretty much everything is in place. You can test all of that in the nightly builds for Windows, Linux and macOS: KDE’s binary factory certainly has been the single most important thing for improving our development process! Though the move to gitlab also did wonders for our productivity. Apart from the new features that ended up in releases, we also worked on supporting MyPaint brushes, making the appimages updatable, a new plugin for recording your painting process, storyboarding, a ton of new features and updates for animations and a lot of work on a project that we have been working on for three years now: the resource system rewrite. Over all the branches, there were 5486 commits in 2020. Check the link if you want to read about the nightmares… CodeĪnd we coded… A lot. We get too many bug reports that are actually user support requests, but apart from that, it’s a never ending stream of things that need to be cleaned up. With these releases came improved brush outlines while painting, new features for the color smudge brush, watercolor brush presets, new filters, extended scripting support, the snapshot docker, a magnetic selection tool, new fill layers, new features for the pixel brush engine, mesh gradients, mesh transforms, improvements to the gradients - and much, much more, as well as hundreds of bug fixes. So, what did we do? In the first place, we made four releases: Krita 4.2.9, 4.3.0, 4.4.0 and 4.4.1, and now we’re working on 4.4.2. It feels surreal to think we actually had a real, physical development sprint - in February. That shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Some of us have had some extended periods of down time, or have been less productive, both because of the effect of the different pandemic measures all over the world, and because it was at times really hard to stay motivated and find the energy for coding. It feels strange to write that, but it might reassure some of our readers. First off: none of the Krita developers has died this year. Also, keep in mind that the product is still in Early Access so you could run into some problems that haven’t been fixed yet.The last day of the year… So, let’s look back a bit. Ideally, you’ll want to try it out on a device with a large screen as the app is still optimised for desktop systems. If you want to try out this beta, you’ll need to navigate to the Play Store listing with a compatible device then just press install. If you do want to support the project, however, you can buy a supporter badge from within Krita. The project said that unlike the Windows and Steam store editions, it isn’t asking for money for the Play Store edition as it’s the only way people can install Krita on Android devices. The Play Store version is based on the latest Krita 4.2.9 which launched in March. The Play Store version of the software is still the full desktop version of Krita so it doesn’t include a touch interface it may, therefore, not be so great on a small Android phone, but should be quite decent on a larger tablet of Chrome OS device. The open source graphics editor, Krita, is now available to download via the Play Store, its developers have announced. ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't have a Magic Mouse, so I'll be of limited help to you.īut a little bit of research reveals scores of users like you, expressing the exact same complaint about the exact same mouse, against countless different applications. No one should experience fear while using a media player app nor change ones hardware just to avoid the volume unexpectedly shooting up. But this simple thing makes the experience a complete study in frustration. But I like the features and sound quality over using the player built into my amps. On multiple occasions, I've discontinued use due to this issue. Even without any scroll motion applied on the mouse, the volume goes up slightly. If my cursor isn't on the volume graphic, I shouldn't be effecting it.Įven when clicking on an item on a top located tool bar, the volume bumps up just a tad every time. a brush of ones finger should not be able to make such a major ands possibly costly jump in the volume. It occurs to me at least 6-10 times a week, some times late at night, kids asleep, BAM. On MC there are many locations that seems to default to volume control. But either way, any other app requires you cursor to be hovering over the volume. Because if your setting for scroll speedo is fast, then the volume shoots up or down too low. Why the hell does scroll need to be attached top volume at all? Every app Ive ever used that connects the two is useless. Moving the mouse/cursor in the tree side and theres not enough dropdowns open to utilize scroll, finger touches mouse, volume shoots up. Ie, moving cursor up to minimize the window, if your finger touches your mouse ANYWHERE, the volume shoots up. Moving the mouse/ cursor anywhere on the MC window that does not have a scroll and the scroll movement goes to volume control. Volume control attached to mouse scroll motion needs to be optional or not at all. Yes, I'm bringing this up again in a last effort before walk away from MC completely. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Smoke billowed out of the mounds of buried waste for weeks as state and local authorities struggled to figure out who had jurisdiction to put out the fire, eventually calling on the Environmental Protection Agency. The fact that the film was made in the pre-CGI stage makes its visuals all the more impressive - the entire elaborate fantasy world and its hundreds of characters were all real puppets, motors, and models filmed with in-camera effects. "It was, 'But of course.'"įilmmaking technology has significantly progressed since the early 1980s, when Jim Henson made The Dark Crystal. "There was never a maybe," Leterrier recalled. Former Hub executive Ted Biaselli joined Netflix, and when Henson approached him about The Dark Crystal series, everything finally came together. Henson executives agreed and changed Leterrier's sequel to a prequel and combined it with an animated series in development at cable channel the Hub, making it a miniseries instead of a movie. In 2011, Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier took some meetings with the Henson Company. This is not a project that came together quickly. (The film went on to earn $41 million at the box office, so Henson turned a profit.) Henson had about $15 million available at the time, almost all of that coming from royalties of licensed Muppet merchandise Holmes a Court accepted the offer, and The Dark Crystal wholly became the property of Jim Henson. If they weren't the money men anymore, they couldn't change a frame. Upon returning to his office headquarters in New York, he called his agent and informed him that he was going to buy ACC out of The Dark Crystal. Henson put them off, but when Holmes a Court, trying to ensure it made good on its hefty investment, wanted to send representatives to the editing bays to ensure that their changes were implemented, Henson cracked. According to Henson's diaries, reprinted in Henson: The Biography, the money-handlers thought the Mystics were "too boring" and suggested that Henson cut down their time onscreen and increase the presence of the Skeksis, because a test audience in Detroit responded favorably to them. That's the year Henson released The Dark Crystal, an ambitious, visually stunning achievement of fantasy, cinema, and puppetry.
